Virtual Phone Number:

For just $4.99 you can choose a secondary number from any available are code for your primary Vonage line. This allows the customers to receive calls from people outside their local calling area with the caller paying only for a local call.

Soft Phone:

Vonage service is also available through Softphone. Vonage customers can download the Vonage SoftPhone and turn a PC or laptop into a full-fledged telephone with all advanced services. The screen-based interface of Vonage SoftPhone allows customers to pick up voicemails, do call forwarding, the caller id with name displayed besides making or receiving calls.

Toll Free Plus:

With Vonage you can also have Toll free number for as less as $4.95 with 100 free incoming minutes every month and 4.9cents for every additional minute.

General Features:

Other than the above-mentioned paid features Vonage also offers several other general features many of which are not often provided by all VOIP services. This list of features would include, Voicemail, Three-way calling, speed dial, Call Forwarding, Call waiting, caller id with name, call return, international call block, call transfer, click-2 call, Repeat dialing and many more.

Plans Offered:

The packages offered by Vonage have been set up to meet the budgets of middle-income group and small business enterprises.

It has 4 plans starting with the Basic Plan for $14.99 that offers 500 minutes calling to any where in US, Canada and Puerto Rico. The Premium Unlimited plan for $24.99 offers unlimited calling to US, Canada and Puerto Rico.

There are two business plans. The Small Business Basic Plan offers 1500 minutes of calling to anywhere in US, Canada and Puerto Rico along with a fax line and host of other free features. This plan is priced at $39.99. The $49.99 Small Business Unlimited plan offers unlimited calling to US, Canada and Puerto Rico with a fax line and a bunch of other free features.

Customer Service:

Vonage provides online customer service as well as support over telephone. Unfortunately most of the Vonage customers are really happy with the customer service and the fast exponential growth of their customer base is considered to be the main reason for their inadequate customer service. Their customer service team probably needs more people to handle the calls coming in from their huge customer base. The long series of instructions provided through the IVR when calling there customer service number is often very much annoying and creates an impression that they would do whatever possible to stop their customers from speaking to a real person.

Other Details:

Though Vonage claims to have no annual contract; their customer service informed that they charge a cancellation fee of $39.99 if the account is cancelled after the initial trial period of 30 days and before the end of 1 year of Vonage service. However, if the account is cancelled within the first 30 days or after 1 year of service the cancellation fee is waived.
